Tour of Britain 2021

Tour of Britain

World-class cyclists will whizz through Northumberland this year as the Tour of Britain returns to the county.

The route map for the postponed race has now been revealed, meaning cycling fans will be able to line the route to watch the bikes go by.

Stage six of the national race will take place on September 10, and see cyclists pass through Northumberland and into Gateshead.

The race was rescheduled in 2020 due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic making 2021 the 17th edition of the prestigious stage race taking place over seven days (Sunday 5-12 September).

Stage Six will begin in Carlisle and enter Northumberland just south of the former mining village of Allenheads before continuing east to Prudhoe.

Approximately 64km of the 200km stage will be taking place in the county and will feature an exciting sprint before it moves into Gateshead where the stage will finish in the shadows of the Angel of the North.

The Surgery will experience difficulties on Friday the 10th of September with access and road diversions, but we will up-date patients and visitors when we receive further information from Gateshead Council.

Thank you.
